The Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC) is the Wool Industry Promotional Council.
Exactly what is it?
In 1964, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, established the Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), an autonomous organization. It is the foremost export promotion council that is committed to the promotion of the export of all varieties of wool, woollen, and acrylic-blend products from India. WWEPC serves as the official intermediary between the wool industry and both the government and international markets in order to increase India's woollen textile exports.
Registration with WWEPC provides exporters with a Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) recognized by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). This certificate is a crucial requirement for participating in government export incentive schemes such as RoDTEP, EPCG, and duty drawback programs, enabling wool exporters to enhance profitability while remaining compliant with regulatory norms. Beyond certification, WWEPC membership signifies credibility and trustworthiness, positioning Indian wool products as reliable and high-quality in competitive international markets.
WWEPC's role extends beyond administrative support. It serves as a strategic facilitator for market intelligence, international trade promotion, and business networking, connecting Indian exporters with global buyers, importers, and industry leaders. The council actively organizes buyer-seller meets, international exhibitions, and trade fairs, providing a platform for woollen manufacturers to showcase their products, understand global market trends, and identify new business opportunities. By doing so, WWEPC helps Indian exporters compete effectively on price, quality, and design innovation.
